King Tides Safety Tips
When the swells are this big and there are Hazardous sea warnings issued by The National Weather Service... Please watch from a safe distance and obey all warning signs!
Don't go on the beach, out on jetties, rocky cliffs, or past any safety barriers!
Watch from a safe viewpoint elevated high above the shoreline!
There may be surges that come up a lot further than you think, so use extreme caution and keep yourself, your friends, and your family safe!
- Stay off the beach: Strong, unpredictable sneaker waves and rising tides can cover the beach unexpectedly.
- Don't turn your back on the ocean: Watch for sneaker waves that can surge far up the beach! Local authorities advise against going on the beach during hazardous sea warnings and King Tides.
- Stay off logs and debris: Large ocean logs can be moved easily by waves and can cause serious injury or death.
- Keep off rocks and jetties: These areas are extremely dangerous due to strong currents and slippery conditions. Getting washed off could be life threatening!
